Current:
I’m a freelance copywriter and creative director based in Seattle who believes the most powerful advertising happens through human connection. As a writer and creative thinker, I get to make beautiful bridges that bring people together, even if it’s just for a moment over a box of soap.
Past:
I started my career at Wieden + Kennedy when Dan Wieden saw my work at an ad school book review and Jim Riswold flew me out to Portland and made me roshambo him for a copywriting job. At Wieden + Kennedy, I learned to pour my guts out on Nike and any other brand that would have me, from some of the most talented, authentic weirdos in the biz. After six years of living my absolute dream, I left to pursue another couple: my daughter and son. Being a stay-at-home parent was a trip and taught me even more things, this time from even bigger weirdos. During this time, I used my creative brain on jobs I got by word of mouth on projects I could (kind of) fit into family life. I also wrote a middle-grade manuscript, got my captain’s license, learned to play the drums, played in four bands, made blackberry wine, ran a bridge club in three west coast cities, and probably more—it’s all a blur. When I was ready to go back to full-time creative work, I took a job in-house at a start up for two reasons: I believe in the power and value of my work to build equity in a brand and a company, and having already done the agency thing in a big way, I wanted a new challenge. I spent the next six years at Aera—a home fragrance brand—first as the Director of Storytelling & Brand Strategy, then as Creative Director and Executive Creative Director, helping grow the team and Aera’s annual revenue exponentially. I left in early 2024 to focus on what I enjoy most about this business: moving people with ideas.
I grew up taking a ferry boat to school every day, riding horses, and sailing boats a lot. I like being out in storms, leading the way through dark tunnels, and climbing up on ladders. If you want to make me happy, hand me a cheeseburger. Sometimes I eat them and sometimes I throw them.
